According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Krome Service Processing Center (SPC) was established in response to the influx of refugees coming from Cuba at that time.

According to a report by the American Bar Association Delegation to the Krome Service Processing Center, the facility is designed for a minimum capacity of 435, operational capacity of 580, and an emergency capacity of 850 detainees.

The Krome Immigration Court is located at 18201 S.W. 12th Street, Building #1, Suite C, in Miami, Florida, 33194.
